I find the MicroFreak to be a joy to program individual patches, and handy enough to compose w/ individual patches at a time.
HOWEVER, I gather the only onboard means of selecting patches is with the single rotary/push-encoder, viewing names/icons of presets down, according to a list which may be chunked or disordered arbitrarily.
DIRECT PRESET RECALL
I hope we can find/implement some way to register my favorite N presets for quick recall.
Here is what I'd suggest/request, given these buttons aren't already registered.
The 1-to-1 Oxford Approach.
hold some "voice" button, press onboard keyboard note.
The MicroFreak could save a simple list of 25 presets; one-per key.
- HOLD Panel button OR push Preset encoder OR
- PUSH a white or black key to recall FIRST presets 1-25 or some separate/additional "favorites" list (good for storing Template...)
A Hierarchical Bank / Register approach
As above, HOLD some panel control to enter Recall, but get access to up to 10, where.
- the 10 black the 0'th to 9'th Specific Preset in banks of 10
- the white keys could point to Banks/Decades of 10
I know we'd be used to seeing "bank/group" buttons above "preset" buttons...but there's 10 black keys !
WHY this matters...
Every time I pull my MicroFreak off the DAW Desk toward jam spaces or even the stage, I find myself wishing for this kind of meta-organization/navigation.
In fact, I'd be happy to lend my time/energy/experience toward the development of this feature request.
I listen forward to what developers and/or other users think of this idea for the MicroFreak.
cheers for now.

Very nicely formatted post.
To select presets I programmed them on a midi controller from where I can recall them with a simple push.
...Not sure that there will be any more firmware update...
... in case, just a thought : CC7 ;)

Thanks for reply.
(and yes, it took a while for Forum-formatting skills to come back, thanks).
On the option to steer the MicroFreak remotely, I've set up a LaunchPad (mini) to send this MF some Program Changes, as well as CCs to jump between Synthesis types, etc.
However, that's not the internal/free-standing usage I'm looking for.
I do hope that Arturia continues to re-invest in the power of this little synth, given it's open/extensible processing power.
What may suggests that Arturia is open/closed to further firmware development ?

Freak age.
