Title: Two Keysteps: Can't record on slave KeyStep while master KeyStep is playing
Post by: lake33 on November 27, 2019, 02:19:03 am
I think the title says it all. I have one KeyStep acting as Master and the other as Slave. I want to record a sequence live on the slave KeyStep while the master KeyStep is playing. When I hit record it lights red as long as I'm pressing it, but as soon as I let go it goes dark. I'm using the Sync cable with the Master set to Internal and the Slave set to Sync In. They're also connected via MIDI (Master Out > Slave In).

Any solutions? The reason I bought a 2nd KeyStep was for this functionality.

Haven't been able to test extensively (I don't have them hooked up to a tone generator at this moment), but it appears that having the Slave set to MIDI instead of Sync In fixes the issue.

Also, while Sync In was enabled I was connecting the two KeySteps via a TS cable. I wouldn't think TRS would make a difference, but the KeyStep is kind of mysterious, so who knows.
