Hi all
Matrixbrute arrived yesterday, and needless to say I am having a lot of fun when making sounds. However, I am feeling fairly inadequate when trying to integrate the MB with Pro Tools.
I have attached the MB to my computer via USB, updated firmware etc. However, I cannot get Pro Tools to trigger notes on the MB via the USB connection. There are two pre-defined 'MIDI' items showing in PT relating to MB; 'MatrixBrute [Emulated] and 'MIDIOUT2 (MatrixBrute) [Emulated]. I set the appropriate channel (aligned to what is set in the Arturia MIDI Control Centre), but when I try to trigger notes, it seems that the MB is not receiving the MIDI information.
I am not particularly whizzy with MIDI, but this is getting a little infuriating! I would like to be able to trigger notes on the MB from PT, and also have MB sync to the clock in Pro Tools.
I conclude that I must be missing a few steps. Can anyone help me?!
Many thanks!

Hi Aphemia,
I don't know Pro Tools, so it's worth waiting for a reply for someone who does, but in the mean time you check the settings in the Midi control center. (you did install it didn't you?) Try a different setting for Midi out and clock source and check whether the other settings are ok..
Do have a direct connecting or is there a USB hub in between? If so remove the USB hub and try again.

Thanks!
No hub involved. It's a direct USB connection.
Arturia MIDI Control Centre installed.
If I connect via conventional MIDI, I can trigger notes - but only for patches where the MB sequence is off. So for example, factory preset A1 will trigger but A2 will not.
Ideally, I want to just use the USB connection for everything as I would prefer to have my conventional MIDI cable hooked up to some other devices.
Hoping someone out there can pinpoint my errors!
Thanks
Aphemia

Bump, now that we have a few more users joining after their MB's arrive!

Hi there,
I can confirm this behavior, if connected via USB Midi-Sync the MB acts pretty weird (here in Ableton and Studio One)...

HI Aphemia,
I've been testing the MxB on PT10 with PT10 set as the clock master.
1. Go to Setup/Midi/Input device and remove any MatrixBrute connection here. You don't want to have a Midi loop !
2. Set the output of your midi track on MatrixBrute not on MatrixBrute,Midi interface
3. Go to Setup/Midi/MidiBeatClock and select the MatrixBrute.
Midi notes and PT clock are now sent to the MxB.

;D Ben - thank you. This appears to be working just fine now. Excellent news :)

Bit of an old topic but I've been trying to get my Matrixbrute working with PT12 using midi via USB and it's proving tricky. I've followed your instructions but this only allows me to play the MB via another USB device. If I set the MIDI Input Device to MB then I get a nidiloop and it stops working. If I turn thiss off I cannot use the MB as a trigger?
