Title: Warning - 1/4 audio to line input with 48v phantom power
Post by: steveedwards056 on April 25, 2022, 10:24:27 am
Connecting MicroFreak 1/4 XLR to Komplete audio 6 line input with XLR cable and having 48v phantom power switched on has blown audio out and permanently irreversibly damaged synth.

Also I did not follow any guideline to connect / disconnect and power on/off in sequence for safety.

Im new to synths and have sadly repeated this mistake killing unit again after Arturia via Source Distribution kindly provided service warranty repair.

Yes this is one of the connections that is potentially very dangerous. 1/4inch TRS to XLR mic inputs. XLR outputs have a saveguard for Phantom power if designed properly. 1/4 TRS not unfortunately. Connecting anything but a mic to a XLR phantom mic input is super riscy. It might go well for a few times, but you are prone to forget phantom is on.
Hope they help you again!!!!
