I must be the first person trying to use the KeyLab49+ with Reason because I haven't encountered a solution to - let alone discussion of - this issue online anywhere:
How do I program the 16 drum pads on the KeyLab49 to match the 16 drum pads in the Kong Drum Designer in Reason 7? This drum pad is the #1 purpose why I am giving this KeyLab a chance, and if the pads can't be assigned correctly, then I will likely return it.
I've got the MIDI Control Centre running, but I don't know how to assign the pads in a way that Reason will recognize the MIDI. Interestingly, the Kong pads are controlled by the keys of the KeyLab.
Help is appreciated.

Find the range of the notes for example it might start at C3 and then change the pads to the correct notation range
Basicly press the keys and work out which notes they are and then program the pad to the same notes
You can use the console but at a guess starting point
PAD 1
Mode midi note
Note C3
Option gate
Channel 1
hope this helps

Thanks for replying.
So a few things:
1) for the life of me I can not figure out how to save changes made in "Edit" mode. (The manual is way too brief.) How do I do this? For example, I am trying to save the channel, which is currently set at channel 10, to channel 1 as you mentioned.
2) I see no way to select the Note c3 - all I have is the MIDI Note #36...
3) The Midi Control Center software continually will not recognize my keyboard, or send any changes I've made to the keyboard. Note: I have updated the firmware.

Hopefully someone more qualified will explain I have a minilab so I cant help with the onboard editing
Percussion for GM should be on channel 10 but you should be able to trigger on channel 1
Have a look at the gm mappings they have the note numbers
36 is bass drum c1 but maybe kong starts at c3 sorry I don't have reason

As for umcc open a ticket and give as much info as you can

Thanks for your input kickwizard... any other help would also be appreciated.

OK - Arturia's tech support helped me out. This is how you do it. FYI, all instructions refer to Reason and not the MCC.
"Hi Ryan,
[In Reason preferences] You should add a new surface in "control surface" preferences.
As a manufacturer choose <other>
Then choose MIDI Multichannel Control Keyboard.
Choose the right midi input keylab 49.
I've been testing this config, it's working great !
Feel free to come back to me if still any problem or misunderstanding.
Yours cordially,
David."

Did it work in your case, cause it doesn't in mine. Do i need to do any more configurations on the keylab as well? ???

Just got my Keylab 49, made some tweaks in Reason, and it's now working the way you describe. It works perfectly, but you need to change your preferences in Reason, not the Midi Control Center - I'm using Reason 8.3, but it will work with any version.
Open your Reason Preferences and make sure KeyLab49 is set as the Master Keyboard
Then click on the Sync Tab - you'll see there are 4 Busses A-D
Set Bus A to - KeyLab 49 then close your Preference window
Switch to the Reason Rack and find the Hardware Interface - it's usually at the top of the rack. This is where you set your Audio I/O, switch to the Big Meter, or make Advanced MIDI settings. Which is exactly what we want to do.
Click on Advanced MIDI - in the fold down window, make sure Bus A is selected and displays KeyLab49
Click on MIDI Channel 10 and you'll see a menu of all the devices in your Rack - send MIDI Channel 10 to the "In" of the Kong Device you want to control with the Pads.
Bang your Pads - hear that?
You're done - now go make some music.
P.S. If you want to go crazy you can open up the Arturia MIDI Control Center and split your Pads into 2 sets of 8 pads. That way you could control an OctoRex with pads 1-9, and your Kong with pads 9-16.
Open the Arturia MCC and set pads 1-9 to transmit on MIDI Channel 11
Sync your KeyLab to the new settings
Go back to the Reason Advanced MIDI settings in your Rack.
Set MIDI Channel 11 to the "In" of the OctoRex you want to control.
You're done.
See what we did there - now go make some more music!
Hope that Helps.
