Title: List of PolyAT and/or Ribbon Controller MIDI keyboards
Post by: overState2007 on July 27, 2007, 01:32:11 pm
I'd like to start a list of MIDI keyboards that feature the CS-80 trademark options.

So far as I know:

 -Ensoniq SQ80 (polyAT)
 -GEM S2 (polyAT)
 -Motif XS8 (ribbon)

If you know about any others, post 'em here and I'll put them on the list.  Over time I'd like to rate them by price, programmability, reliability, etc.

The Arturia Origin Keyboard will respond to "Polyphonic Aftertouch"over midi....
It can transfer Channel Aftertouch, and has a 2 foot pitch ribbon.....

Because it is a building block modular , you can utilize the PolyAT for the First time on Mini and Mg modular,Arp2600, Prophet as well as the CS80 and "Origin Original" blocks.....I also think the Jupiter suprise is around the corner....

Because this instrument is 32 Voice....You could build a Yamaha "GX 1" type of instrument out of 2 CS80s...

Prophet T8 doesn't transmit PAT via midi.

I use GEM S2, it's cheap and fantastic. :)

My intention is to find out which ones are affordable/in the same range as the plugins themselves.  I know polyphonic aftertouch will severely curtail this, but I'm ignorant and curious about it.

That having been said, the Origin is going for at least $2,000 from what I understand.  I like the idea of poly aftertouch too, but I also like to eat once or twice a week.

How about those other ones?  I know Elka were regarded as the "budget" synth back in the 70's.  How easy are these to come by?

Not bad, not bad.  How durable is it?  I have the CME UF5 and she's a beefer for the price (under 200 euro).

It must be durable.... it is over 15 years old, has been through 3 owners , and was suscesfully shipped via "UPS"....
