Title: Good Prophet V Patches Richard Barbieri JAPAN?
Post by: Hugh Jarse on November 15, 2008, 12:36:09 am
Hello,

Does anyone have any decent Prophet V patch banks they could post? The standard ones that come with the VSTIi are the biggest pile of horse manure I've ever heard in my life. I know this instrument is capable of so much but what it is packaged with is really a complete joke.

I'm particularly interested in patches similar to what Richard Barieri used on the 1980 Japan album "Gentlemen Take Polaroids." Such a fantastic album.

Thanks to all for your kind responses.

i agree on barbeiri being one of the prophet 5 masters (his soundset of the tindrumsessions  and the wellknown ringmodpatches was available for Pro53 but it was not ver good) but true masters were american keyboardist Larry Fast wich was one of the earliest users using heavily modified REV1 with semi modular gate interfaces for every seperate voice of the 5 way before the polybus was fitted (another idea of him) standard on rev 3s, of couse YMO were prophet specialists too, popular belief said Sylvian introduced
sakamoto to te prophet wich is not correct as ymo allready used 4 prophets on their 1979
tour before they met Sylvian in 1980 , the prophet was and is the most unique sounding analog polysynth ever and only the cs80 could make a similar ethno acoustic type of sound. the presets in the vsti dont do this fact any justice
