Title: Looking for Hold/Drone Programming Options
Post by: Winslow T. Schiller on June 08, 2020, 05:08:59 am
In Pigments, the Env VCA is 'hardwired' to incoming MIDI notes. I'd like to create a patch with a wide open VCA that doesn't require triggering via MIDI. On other synths (such as Arturia's Prophet 5) this is a 'hold' feature: enable it, and a single note or chord will sustain indefinitely. Is there a way to unwire the connection between MIDI notes and the Env VCA or control it from another modulator (say, a Function turned all the way up and routed to the Amp Mod knob)? Is it so obvious I'm missing it? Thanks! - Winslow

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

You have to play and hold a note or activate the sustain pedal somehow to keep the VCA ENV from closing the gate.

OK thanks. I'll add a request for a 'hold' or 'sustain' feature to the proper list. - Winslow

Is there another way to trigger the ENV VCA gate other than MIDI or the sequencer/arp?

No.

Setting the gate for a sequencer step to hold it for 400% (4 steps) on the slowest play rate is the longest note you can hold a note without using Sustain hold, even when using the sequencers Hold function, when you hit a note shortly.

The HOLD function in the Sequencer section now also work when the sequencer is set to OFF. So that's an option now.
