I successfully downloaded and ran the MicroBrute Connection software, and also successfully updated the MB firmware (or at least I didn't see any indication of FW failure). The software successfully connects to my MB.
To be on the safe side, the first thing I did upon connecting was to save the default sequences, in case I needed them.
However, after connecting to the MB with the Connection software, my sequences are no longer working. If I turn the sequencer off, the notes sound, but with the sequencer set to "Play", no sounds come from the MB, regardless of which sequencer pattern is selected. I tried using the "Reset all sequences" function of the Connection software, to no avail.
Oddly, if I use the "Save sequences" function again, using a different name, the resulting mbseq file and midi files appear to contain the correct sequence data. But nothing happening on the MicroBrute.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be very welcome.

It looks like your sequences are here, but the sequencer is stopped.
Is the tempo LED blinking?
Are you sure the Sync parameter is not set to EXT -> the sequencer will be stop until it receives a Midi clock.
Or that the "Step On" parameter is not set to Gate -> you need to provide gate signal on the Gate input jack to run the sequencer.
-
Figures that as soon as I posted, I figure it out...kind of.
Per your second suggestion, looks like either the FW update, or the Connection software changed the "Step On" parameter from Clk to Gate, which was causing the symptoms I was seeing. Once I changed it back to to Clk, the sequences appear to be working again. Just wish I understood a little better why it wasn't working, and why it is now.
Somewhat of a noob to analog synths, so wondering if I'm missing something...

Thanks for feedback, I'll sticky your post for next ones.
Just wish I understood a little better why it wasn't working, and why it is now.
You'll find details about theses options on the Connection Software user manual, available inside the zip file you downloaded.

Just had the same problem after the firmware update.
I think that this issue have to be fixed in the future updates.
It's quite confusing.
-
Ok I think I got it. It's a bug, after the update, the Clk/Gate param is set to a random value. So some people with have it on Gate, others on Clk.
I will fix it asap for sure.
Thanks

is it possible to get the last working fw somewhere to download?
because making me sad with no working sequenzer.
-
you don't need another firmware.
In the Connection software, you need to set "Step On" parameter to "Clk"

I had a good FW install and when I tried my sequencer after it too was devoid of sound until I realized the program had gate engaged instead of click.
Although I somehow lost my original sequences, everything now is in perfect order. For those of us coming from a digital domain it is easy to panic when something does not appear to work right away. The wonderful world of analogue tests our "logical" problem solving skills at times.
Ex: I interfaced my microbrute with Doepher dark energy and I had no sound. I tried everything only to discover 30 minutes later that a patch cord was not fully inserted! Welcome to analogue everyone. We're going to have a grand old time. ;D

:)... now i did and everything is perfect again.
sorry for the panic, but this realy great synth is like a drug for me. thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having all kinds of trouble understanding the MB software. I went through the common issue of losing the sequencer after FW update. Fixed that. Now my MB has become polyphonic and the sequencer does not play anything I record. Is there a thorough software tutorial out there?
-
I am running the software in OS X 10.6
Thank you for any help! :-)
-
I hight recommend you to take a look at the Connection software user manual. It's for sure a good start to jump into the software.
-
I found the Connection Software manual. In case someone, like me, hadn't thought of it: it comes in the zip file bundled with the Connection Software app. Thanks for the help! O.

I have the same problem after update.
-
Now my MB has become polyphonic
wait... is this even possible?

Ive tried to upgrade the firmware today but it went extremely wrong.
Sequencer is dead now, downgrade the firmware is not working (yes ive followed the manual to step by step), connection software is freezing (on win xp) -none of any other softwares freezing in my computer- and envelope section is also not working properly :(((( its extremely annoying since ive followed the manual from step by step. nay ideas plz ?
-
Solved. Working good now.
-
How did you solve it? I got the same problem after upgrading to 1.0.3.2
-
Nevermind, figured it out. In the Microbrute Connection software I switched Sequencer Control -> Step on to Clk (from Gate) and it started working!
-
So are there still no actual solutions to this problem? Because none of the ones here work. I know the manual and connection software like the back of my hand, and it's not helping. I have tried all of the ideas here and to no avail.

Here you go!

Download the firmware and not the MIDI Control Center
Good Luck!
